2019 DIA-BEAT-IT Gala

JDRF is pleased to announce that the 15th annual DIA-BEAT-IT Gala in support of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research will be held on Tuesday, November 12, at The Windsor Ballrooms.

Dressed in their finest attire, over 350 guests are expected at the event. Funds raised during the evening will help support the most innovative research to better treat, prevent and eventually cure T1D.

T1D affects over 300,000 Canadians, a number that is steadily increasing. T1D is not the result of eating too much sugar, nor is it linked to being overweight or to a lack of exercise. T1D is not preventable and its cause is unknown.

For more information about JDRF or the DIA-BEAT-IT Gala, please visit: www.diabeatit.ca

2019 GALA SPONSORS

JDRF would like to express its sincere gratitude to all of our corporate partners, whose support benefits children and adults with T1D across Canada through research that is leading to groundbreaking new treatments and a cure.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Bag of Hope

The Bag of Hope, sponsored by Roche Diagnostics (Accu-Chek), is a knapsack providing information to help newly diagnosed families cope with the challenges of living with diabetes. The complimentary bag includes the popular Rufus bear, and a selection of informative brochures. Request a Bag of Hope from us with Rosalie Sarasua rsarasua@jdrf.ca or at your local diabetes clinic.

Books for Families with Children and Teens Living with Type 1 Diabetes

At most diabetes clinics, you can pick up a free copy of two books made available by JDRF, which aim to inform and educate families about T1D. When a Child has Diabetes is written by Denis Daneman, Marcia Frank, and Kusiel Perlman. Le diabète chez l'enfant et l’adolescent is written by Louis Geoffroy and Monique Gonthier, a pediatrician at CHU Sainte-Justine.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Whether it's the Walk to Cure Diabetes, the Ride for Diabetes Research, or any other JDRF event that takes place during the year, they all require a considerable amount of volunteer help.

This help can be pre-event, working on one of many committees involving recruitment of participants, solicitation of sponsorships for items and services, or day-of event duties such as registration, route supervision, kids activities, barbecue/refreshment area, etc.

Volunteers are the backbone of JDRF and their support is truly appreciated!

For more information, please contact benevoles@jdrf.ca.
